Finding Cinderella (Hopeless, #2.5) : Book Review

Finding Cinderella (Hopeless, #2.5) By Colleen Hoover

Finding Cinderella is the last part of the Hopeless series by Colleen Hoover.
Hopeless and Losing hope focussed upon the story of Hope (aka Sky) and Dean Holder, with Hopeless being written from Hope’s perspective and Losing Hope being written from Dean’s perspective. Whereas this third part is about the lives of Hope’s and Dean’s best friends aka Six and Daniel respectively.
Amid life journeys’ of Hope and Dean seeking each other, Colleen introduced us to Six and Daniel but left us wondering what happened to them. Thus, she came with up Finding Cinderella.

Please see the below links if you want to get familiar with the characters and stories of Hope and Dean.

Plot of the story:
Daniel wasn’t assigned any class in the fifth period and instead of informing the school admin about this, he used to hide in the closet every day for an hour as his nap time. During one such day, while he was lying in the closer, the door slammed open and someone fell on top of. Slowly when he realized someone was a girl who was crying. They had a small conversation and from being awkward and strange they became comfortable and slowly they started kissing and at the ring of bell she left the closet in a hurry. He addressed her as Cinderella. Days were passing and Daniel convinced himself she wouldn’t return until one day when he was in the closet and was texting Holder, the door opened asking for him and Cinderella slid inside the closet and told Daniel, she wouldn’t be coming back here again as she would be leaving in summer. Without realizing, they both confessed that they had never been in love and decided to pretend to be in and make love to each other there and then. As the period bell rang, Cinderella and Daniel decide not to see each other and leave that as their perfect memory to relive. Cinderella left the closet leaving Daniel behind.

A year passed, Daniel moved on and was in a relationship with Val unit one night when he broke up with Val and climbed into Sky’s window to look for Holder where he met Six, Sky’s best friend for the first time. Both hit off in the first meeting and started dating.
Then one day, day Daniel invited Six for dinner at his place where everyone was picking on Daniel and in the flow he said he hated everyone to which Six repeated that statement which made Daniel subconsciously called her Cinderella and Daniel recalled his moments in closet, he tried to remember the smile, the laugh of the girl whom he met in closet. He realized why he connected with Six in the first meeting itself, how they felt in sync and when he confronted this to Six. He expected Six to be equally excited and rejoiced but Six was shocked, sobbing and wished that should not have been true.
Six’s reaction confused Daniel. To know why Six was shocked when she realized that someone was Daniel? What was Six hiding? What happened in Italy to Six? Please read the book.

When Cinderella was about to leave the closet, Daniel walked swiftly to her, hugged her from the back and whispered ‘i wish it could be real.’ This line held me until the end. In life at times what you least expect to happen happens.

As always Colleen is very natural in her style of writing. Her words make you visualize the entire scene. It makes you feel as if you are watching a movie. The way she describes the character you can start imagining how that character would like. It’s a very short and sweet love story. I would like to recommend it when you are in a mood to read anything light.

In this book, in the beginning, Colleen had told about her life story briefly, how she became a writer which is inspiring.
She read this at his son’s school function ‘Decide what to be, and go be it.’ And it made her wonder what she always wanted to do.
